The large Riverclan deputy emerged on the other side of the Riverclan entrance, entering the rushes that met at the stream outside of the Riverclan camp. The lone figure easily leaped over the small, shallow stream, not getting an inch of his sleek fur wet. Frostrunner then turned back to face the cold stream, his ears pricked forward to detect any Riverclan cat scent. He had sent for Buttercuppaw because it was time for her final assessment, and now he stood waiting for her. He narrowed his eyes, hearing someone faintly calling his name in the direction of the camp.

"Frostrunner?" The she-cat mewed softly, glancing around. After her mentor had exploded on her and Monarchblossom the other day, she was quite fearful of him. She padded towards the stream silently and spotted the grey and white tom, not resisting a smile as she leapt across the stream, her smallness making it hard to get over, but she managed it, not getting a single hair wet. "Um.. What do you need?" Buttercuppaw asked, hoping that it was her assessment, but you never did know. Being an apprentice was unpredictable.

The tom spotted the small orange and gray apprentice, feeling slightly guilty about his impatience when it came to the battling she-cats, but they had to be put into their place by someone higher ranking than them. "Come with me, Buttercuppaw," he murmured to her in a soft voice, sensing the way she was thinking about him. Frostrunner touched her shoulder affectionately to show er that he wasn't mad at her anymore, and then abruptly turned away from the stream. The warrior led the way through the reeds and rushes, a cool wind ruffling his sleek fur. He glanced up at the sky, noticing that there were a couple of dark clouds rolling in slowly. Frostrunner stopped at a small clearing near the Thunderclan border. He halted and then turned back towards Buttercuppaw, flicking his tail to indicate to her to stop. "You will be collecting some herbs for Rushnose and Streampaw," the Riverclan deputy instructed her without an expression. He wanted to see her reaction first before telling her what they were really doing by the river.

Frostrunner's touch sent a feeling through her, an electric shock making all of her sense alert and focused at the mission ahead. She began following the deputy as he lead her towards the Thunderclan border, thoughts whirling around in her head excitedly. Herbs? "Well, if that's what I'm needed to do." She mewed and glanced at Frostrunner. "Where do I get them?"

Frostrunner kept the same expressionless look on his face, pleased that Buttercuppaw didn't complain or anything when he had told her about the mission of gathering herbs for Riverclan. His expression then broke into a small smile, a teasing glint in his eye. "But, you might as well go hunt instead because we have plenty of herbs," he added with a shrug, letting out a purr of amusement. "Did you really think I was gonna deprive you of your final assessment?"

Buttercuppaw blushed slightly. "Oh, uh... Well, after you yelled at me the other day, yes." She confessed honestly, glancing up at him with an embarassed look on her face. Unceartainy shone in her green eyes, not really sure Frostrunner would appreciate his apprentice bringing up the subject again. Her tail flicked, half expecting him to yell at her again, though she hoped his temper was gone and he was in a much better mood. After all, this could be his last day training Buttercuppaw, and she assumed Frostrunner wouldn't want to be grouchy the whole time.

The muscular gray and white tom watched Butteruppaw stutter a little over his question, and he gave her an encouraging look with his penetrating icy blue eyes. He let out a soft sigh at the mention of his little outburst on Monarchblossom and his small apprentice from the other day when they were bickering with each other, but he was determined to stay calm this time. "Well, go on then," Frostrunner told her without a replying to her comment, nudging her gently into the direction of the river. "Meet me outside of camp by sunhigh."

Buttercuppaw gave a slight nod. "See you then." She whispered, heading towards the rivers edge to catch as many fish as she could fit in her mouth. Well, at least I hope so. The she-cat glanced at the sky, though the sun shone brightly she still felt like she could send out a silent prey to Starclan. Please help me to catch some prey!
The orange and grey she-cat came to the river's edge and glanced into the cool, murky water. Her paws tingled as she perched herself on the river bank, paw held in the air, just waiting to slash down into the water and throw a fish onto the bank. Her green eyes stared into the water until a flash of silver passed her vision. Her grey paw streaked down into the water and hit the fish onto the bank beside her.
Buttercuppaw watched the fish flapping around on the bank and aimed a blow to its small body, killing the fish quickly. She scraped some earth over it and returned to the bank. Suddenly, she saw an unusual fish swimming near the surface. It was a huge, flat fish with no scales, but instead a sleek brown.. Skin? The fish was about as big as Buttercuppaw, and her eyes widened. If I bring this fish back with me, I'll definetly become a warrior!
The she-cat perched herself on the edge of the bank and hit the fish, attempting to throw it up on the bank, but it was too big. Her eyes narrowed. If I jump in and get the fish, I feed about five warriors at once, but scare the rest of the fish away. If I leave the fish and go for the small fish, I'll end up with less prey most likely... Hm, the big fish it is. She thought in her head and leapt into the murky water.
Her claws sunk into the fish's skin, and she paddled desperatly towards the bank, but the fish would hardly move. She narrowed her eyes and swam towards the fish's back end, sinking her teeth into it's tail. The small apprentice began dragging the twirling, angry fish towards the bank, and eventually made it to the bank. She took a deep breath of air and leapt onto the bank, continuing to heave on the fish's tail until it was on the bank.
Now the final task, killing it. Buttercuppaw leapt on it's back, sinking her claws into its skin and biting at it. Eventually she was able to make it lose enough blood to the point where it was unconcious, and then dead. She smiled victoriously and realized it was nearly sunhigh. She squeaked and unearthed the small fish, setting it in the big fish's mouth.
Then she drug the fish by the tail slowly to the outside of the Riverclan camp, sweat covering her fur from the extreme work out of killing the fish and bringing it back to camp. She felt as if she could sleep for a full moon. Word count;; 534 Mood;; GREAT!

Frostrunner stared at her in awe. Not impressed or amazed, but in surprise that she had only caught one fish. "That's all you caught?!" he snarled. "Do you have anything else?!" He looked behind her back and saw nothing. "Nothing," he hissed with gritted teeth. "NOTHING!" he shouted to the stars in anger and fury. "I WANT, Buttercuppaw - I repeat, I WANT, apprentices who are strong and good at hunting. And you aren't one of them." Without warning, he leaped on his apprentice and bit her throat.
