Personality: shatterpaw has a good heart; he is kind and loving. he is affectionate with the ones he calls loved ones. he is confident in his opinions and is quick to follow through with them, even if they’re the wrong choice. he is bright and brave and will do anything for his loved ones. if he’s really rallied up, he won’t stay calm, but in most situations he prefers not to fight. he’s the one who wants to talk things over. he is faithful and generous. he’s quite the liar and can sprout one off the top of his head. however, he is not one to lie loosely. only in dire situations, and if he thinks lying will protect a loved one, that’s when he’ll do it.
though, his warm heart can be one of his greatest weaknesses. it can lead to him taking advantage of and being manipulated, especially by a certain sibling of his. he is resentful to his brother flamepaw, but he knows there is good within his brother, even if flamepaw refuses to admit it. his brother hates him, and at times shatterpaw is quick to return the feeling, but he wouldn’t let anything bad happen to flamepaw. he would sacrifice his life for his brother and he knows that flamepaw would do the same, even if the other tom sometimes treats shatter like a bug that needs to be squashed. shatterpaw is quite judging of strangers and is not quick to let them in. he spends time getting to know them before he trusts them completely. he is not very adventurous and prefers to stay near things he knows. he’s not very patient and can get restless easily. he can be overly protective at times, especially when it comes to keeping things from flamepaw.

History: shatterkit was born in the coldest of leafbare, though it was warm and safe inside the nursery. he was born to snowfall and talonstrike, a well-known couple throughout shadowclan. he was blessed with one sibling, flamekit, who he adored. his mother died giving birth to shatterkit and his brother, so the two toms were left to be raised by their father, although they were given milk by another queen. and there comes shatterkit’s name, a quite depressing name. his father named him that because of his grief after losing snowfall. talonstrike was a respected senior warrior in shadowclan, strict and loyal. he was even a little to strict when it came to his sons. he wanted them to grow up to be the best of the clan, like every father, but his love came with a hardened edge. to escape their father’s constant nagging, shatterkit was extremely close to his brother. him and flamekit were practically inseparable. they did everything together; they bugged the apprentices to teach them fighting moves together, they bugged the elders to tell them stories together, they basically bugged a lot of clanmates. but the clan never held it to them, because frankly, they were just too adorable.
shatterkit’s entire world changed when he became an apprentice. once a denmate, now an obsessive crush for shatterpaw. cloudpaw was everything he wanted and everything he couldn’t have. cloudpaw was stuck-up, manipulative, and basically a bitch, but shatterpaw fell head over heels in love with her. he was determined to have her and she was determined to make him work for her affection. as cruel as she may have seemed, cloudpaw truly did love shatterpaw. but, she also was quite fond of his brother, which drove shatterpaw up the wall. him and flamepaw were so in love with this manipulative she-cat, that they couldn’t see past the fake kindess she put up to hide her many flaws. and through all this competition for cloudpaw’s love, shatterpaw still managed to keep a close relationship with flamepaw, even if they were battling for a she-cat. they still trained together and ate together and were still nagged by their father together. the brothers were never close with talonstrike, but the first moons of their apprenticeship, their father was really starting to bug them. one day he would be telling shatterpaw how proud of him he was and the next day he’d be telling flamepaw that he was his favorite child. talonstrike annoyed them constantly, but he was still their father and they still cared for him.
meanwhile, cloudpaw was still working the brothers like puppets. she would flirt with flamepaw, then tell shatterpaw he was the only one for her. she was buying her time. for what? shatterpaw and flamepaw thought she was deciding which one of the brothers to pick as her mate. but cloudpaw was buying time with them. why have one brother if you could have them both? one day in greenleaf, after moons of the brothers being played like toys and enjoying it because it was with cloudpaw, a dark cloud stole over the shadowclan camp. a fox roaming through the territory, picking out a white she-cat who had been hunting aimlessly, and killing her for his dinner. shatterpaw and flamepaw were in despair over cloudpaw’s death. to see their beloved she-cat’s mangled corpse was enough to make them go mad. and it did. for shatterpaw, at least. he went berserk. he wouldn’t hunt or train, or eat for many days. he was hauled up in his den, staring at the ceiling, refusing to do anything but grieve. flamepaw was grieving too, but in a much less obsessive stage. he would still hunt and fend for his clan. his brother tried to shake shatterpaw from his grief, but it wouldn’t do.
half a moon later, shatterpaw was full recovered. he realized that cloudpaw was a flipping wacko and accepted the fact that she was gone and it was time to move on. that’s what it told flamepaw. however, he didn’t tell his brother of the night before cloudpaw’s death. she took shatterpaw out for ‘hunting’, but really cloudpaw revealed that shatterpaw was the one she loved, and that flamepaw was a nice side dish. after her death, shatterpaw realized he didn’t really love cloudpaw. maybe he had for a little while, but that feeling was long gone. and even if he didn’t tell flamepaw what cloudpaw said to him, he could sense that his brother already knew, and it killed shatterpaw. and that was what led flamepaw to truly despising shatterpaw, because he wasn’t the one cloudpaw loved. and because flamepaw blamed shatterpaw for cloudpaw’s death, even though shatterpaw was irrevelant to the fox killing her. so flamepaw completely cut off shatterpaw from his life, until a few days ago. it’s their ninth moon of apprenticeship, two moons after cloudpaw’s death, and flamepaw is just starting to talk to shatterpaw again. shatterpaw is relieved to see his brother speak to him, but wary, because he knows flamepaw still has hatred of him. and his suspicions were confirmed when flamepaw vowed to shatterpaw to make his life miserable. currently, shatterpaw is quite determined to find the kindness in flamepaw that he once knew, before cloudpaw’s death.
