; The small ginger apprentice sat outside the apprentices' den just as the sun was starting to rise. Sagefoot had told her to be up at this time and ready to head out, but why wasn't he there yet? Summerpaw's ear twitched as he heard a snarl thrown in her direction, and turned her slightly, and flinched back as if struck when she noticed the large black form of her father, Crowbone. Then again, he didn't consider himself her father, not since her mother's death. She sighed. She was doing everything she could to prove herself to him, but he wouldn't even look at her, and when he did, it was only to insult or snarl at her. Summerpaw twitched. She usually wasn't the hot-tempered, only when it came to Crowbone was she this easily riled.

Sagefoot let a yawn escape his mouth as the early morning light sliced through the warriors den, landing on his tabby pelt and warming him. He stood and luxuriously stretched, then with a jolt remembered he had been once again given an apprentice to train, and he'd told her to meet him outside the apprentice den. Padding swiftly out of the den and around the corner, he made it just intime to see the scornful Crowbone snarl at his own daughter. What a birdbrain. He thought to himself and made his way to Summerpaw's side. "Ignore him, he isn't worth the time." He muttered lowly then continued on, hoping to get her thoughts off Crowbone. "Well, how about some battle training today?"

; Summerpaw jumped slightly at the sound of her mentor's voice. She flushed. Isn't worth the time? Crowbone may be a...well, you know... but he was still her father. She blinked, and nodded softly, calming down somewhat when she focused on Sagefoot. She smiled, a small one, but none the less a smile. "Sure, that sounds great, Sagefoot."

Sagefoot nodded, the smile warming him. He always loved it when his apprentices were happy, or at least seemed happy. But he remembered how Pessimisticsoul's smile had captivated him. She'd been my apprentice too. He thought to himself. But no, Summerpaw was just an apprentice. Sagefoot was devoted to Pessimisticsoul. "Ok then, let's get going!" He mewed and padded off towards the small hollow that Riverclan had adopted as its' training hollow. It was apart from the main camp, which was on the island, so he had to cross the river. He chose to walk across the shallow water and waited on the otherside for Summerpaw.

; summerpaw padded after sagefoot, keeping an easy pace to warm up her muscles. she followed him all the way to the hollow. she stopped at the edge of the river, before sighig and going through the shallow water, which she still had to swim across due to how tiny she was. she had water going all the way up to her neck. she finally reached the other, and shook her ginger fur, trying to shake out some of the water. summerpaw gazed up at sagefoot, eyes slightly eager and expectant.

Sagefoot found it hard to hold back a laugh as he watched Summerpaw swim across the shallows. Ah well, she'll grow. He thought to himself, remebering how small he was as an apprentice. But now, Sagefoot was a tall, lean tabby warrior, and proud of it too. He got slightly wet by Summerpaw shaking out her fur, but didn't really care. He walked the rest of the way to the hollow before crouching down. "Now, show me what you know." He mewed to the she-cat, ready to block any moves she threw at him.

; summerpaw hesitated slightly, before leaping forward, slipping underneath her mentor's stomach and turning onto her back, and kicking up with all four paws, hopefully sending sagefoot away.

Sagefoot, instead, took a step back so that his front paws were on the she-cats shoulders and his back paws were on her hind legs, pinning her there. He waited for her to make another move, hoping she had a good come back for it.

; silently thanking her small size, summerpaw managed to wriggle out of her mentor's hold, and jump back. she calculated the distance, before jumping up over her mentor, landing behind him. right after, she leaned forward quickly and nipped his hind legs, trying to weaken them.

Sagefoot was thrown off balance by Summerpaw's wiggling away, but jumped back up just in time to be thrown off balance again by her nipping. The tabby tom rolled onto his back and kicked out at the she-cat, hoping to send her away so he could have more time to attack. He was also testing her to see what she would do in that situation.
