Lilacstar smiled, "I admire your loyalty to Starclan... But what ever happened to your loyalty to your heart? To what you feel? Don't let Starclan stop you from what you think is right. Do you think the great leaders before our time didn't break a few rules when they needed to?" She mewed, nudging his shoulder gently.

He looked down at her, his green eyes blazing "I believe the word of Starclan is the right thing." he said, he couldn't believe her. How could she question Starclan? It was wrong, terribly wrong. "And those great leaders," He spat "They were wrong, it is not our place to break rules. We are here to serve."

Lilacstar dipped her head to Whitedawn, "Believe what you want... I'm not questioning Starclan, by the way. I very much believe in them, it's just that they don't know what the heart is feeling. Even if they do know everything else." She mewed, sounding like a wise leader, even though she was saying something that most any leader wouldn't.

"I can't." He said. It was all he could say, it explained everything, he just couldn't. He looked back down at his paws. His pelt itched, he needed to escape.

Lilacstar nudged his shoulder gently, "It alright." She mewed, "I wasn't asking you too." Which was true, even if she had implied it. She looked out of the den, the storm had let up enough for her to return to the Riverclan camp. She stepped out of the den and stretched her stiff, bunched up muscles. She glanced at Whitedawn, "The storm let up." She announced.

He stepped out of the den after her. It was drizzling now, he walked back up the side of the gorge into Windclan territory. He turned back to the Riverclan leader "Goodbye Lilacstar." He said softly. Then he turned and ran back in the direction of the Windclan camp, his home.

Lilacstar waved her tail in response and turned, looking towards the Riverclan territory. She padded up the gorge with long, graceful strides, the rain sliding right off her silver tabby pelt. Her purple eyes were full of wonder. Would she see Whitedawn again?

Whitedawn curled up in his nest, remembering Lilacstar. He immediately purred, then shot back into sadness. He would probably never see her again.
