' Kovu got the slip-up and snarled slightly. I'll never be as good as Kobi to her. He thought to himself and pulled away from Maplefur when she buried herself in his fur. "I'm not ever going to be as good as Kobi Maplefur. So stop pretending. You love Kobi, don't you?" He mewed harshly, desperately wanting to hear a no. But more than that, he wanted honesty.

when he snarled, maplefur flinched and she sighed when he pulled away. without him near, she felt lonely and cold. she stared at his paws, unable to meet his gaze. "please kovu, not right now, not after what we just did," she whispered, glancing up at him before returning her gaze to the ground. "i love you kovu, okay?"

' Kovu felt a bit of a wave of relief wash over him, but he wasn't comepletely content. He licked Maplefur's cheek and pushed his body next to hers, sharing her warmth. He couldn't bare to be without Maplefur, but if she didn't love him... I'll be lost if she doesn't. But, she just told me she does. She wouldn't lie to me. Right? He thought to himself, shaking the thoughts away. "I believe you." He finally decided out loud. "I love you too." He whispered, touching his nose to her shoulder.

she smiled in relief when he licked her cheek, but the smile didn't reach her eyes. she shuddered as kovu's words repeated in her mind, but shoved her thoughts and feelings in the back of her mind. she let out a sigh at his words and purred shortly before cuddling up closer to him. "i'm sorry," she whispered, her breath shaky. "i don't deserve you. you could have any she-cat in the world and you choose the most screwed up one. you'd be better off without me," she murmured and leaned away from him, suddenly feeling guilty. it was true, kovu was incredibly handsome and deserved so much more than her.

' Kovu frowned at Maplefur's words. He scooted closer to her and licked her ears. "Maplefur, don't be sorry. And I picked you because I love you. You're so much more than you see. You're gorgeous, and funny, and smart." He mewed, nuzzling her shoulder. "I deserve nothing but you."

tears welled up in her eyes at his words. she wouldn't believe it, but the sincerity in his voice was overwhelming. she pressed as close to him as she could get it and purred loudly. "kobi's gone forever and i don't love him. i haven't loved him in a long time. besides, one day they'll be little maplefur and kovu kits running around," she said with a smile and touched her nose to kovu's, feeling his warmth spread over her.

' Kovu felt delight fill his body at the she-cat's words. And the thought of kits... That was just wonderful! Kits, that would actually have a mother and father, and that would live happily in Thunderclan. They wouldn't have to deal with any of the drama Ravenpaw had to deal with... It all seemed perfect. He purred loudly and licked Maplefur's forehead. "That sounds perfect."

she returned his purr and gazed lovingly at him. "anything with you sounds good to me," she replied and batted his cheek playfully, then snuggled into his side.

' Kovu purred and wrapped his tail around the she-cat, holding her close to him. He liked the thought of a family with Maplefur, and hoped it would come true... But, there was always Ravenpaw. How would he feel about the whole thing? Well, it's a bit late to be wondering about that. He thought to himself.
